PRINCIPAL’S NEWS

P & C Movie Night has been postponed

Aspley State School P & C Association advises that the school community Movie Night planned for Friday 6th October 2017 has now been cancelled due to the inclement weather forecast.

Early Start: Supporting Our Students

Early Start is a set of tools and resources used by our teachers to monitor your child’s literacy and numeracy skills. The tasks are designed to gather information about each student’s abilities and their learning needs through one-on-one sessions at the start of Prep and at the end of Prep, Year 1 and Year 2. Identifying each child’s learning strengths and challenges helps their teachers plan effective learning programs to help them to develop and grow.

Booklists

Last term students were given a copy of the 2018 Booklists for Years 1-6. Direct Stationery has been selected through a DET tender process and has evidenced they provide good value for money for the supply of stationery for our school community. Direct Stationery provides a service to provide Booklist Packs for students which are delivered to your home. For free delivery of booklist materials please place your order on-line or in person to Direct Stationery by 2nd December 2017. Orders placed after this date will incur a delivery fee of $6.95. A percentage of sales is donated to the Aspley State School Parents and Citizens Association.

B-Connected

From 2018 all students in years 4-6 are invited to bring a privately owned iPad for use at school. This program is called B-Connected. For students to use their iPads at school the children and parents / carers must agree to the terms and conditions of use for B-Connected. Aspley State School has a balanced use of technology and also strongly values student’s abilities to complete manual computations, writing, spelling and handwriting. The Australian Curriculum supports that students use technology as a tool for learning across all disciplines / subjects.

For students who do not have their own iPad at school, they will continue to access school computers and iPads as they do currently. Detailed information has been sent home to inform parents / carers about the invitation for year 4-6 students to bring their own iPad in 2018. A placemat of apps will be provided to parents later this term, after teachers have completed a review of the most useful and affordable apps that are suitable for student use. Please be aware that once you purchase an app it can be used on multiple devices.

Please note that Apple no longer sells the iPad Air 2 as recommended to parents and this model has been replaced with the iPad 5th Generation. (Either device is appropriate for school use. If you do have an older iPad this may be able to be used at school, although some newer apps may not have full functionality.)

In 2018, classes will not be formed on the basis of whether a child has an iPad at school but rather more about their learning needs. iPad classes will no longer exist. In 2018 all students in years 1-6 will have a booklist. Preparatory students will have their book list materials provided as part of the student resource scheme. In 2018 all classes will be using ICT as a tool to support student learning.

A B-Connected parent information night will be held on Wednesday 1 November 2017 at the school hall from 6.00pm – 7.00 pm. Parents are welcome to attend with their child.

Swimming

Swimming has begun and students are really enjoying their lessons. We welcome Ms Una Baldwin, Ms Ebony Smith and Mr Schmidt, Health and Physical Education Teacher who are our swimming instructors this term. Students will receive an individual report after the completion of their swimming instruction which will communicate their level of achievement in swimming. Parents are welcome to watch swimming lessons and volunteers are welcome. I ask that spectators do not talk to school staff during swimming lessons as this may distract them from their duty. If you act as a volunteer spotter you will not be permitted to access your phone during this time. If you are able to volunteer please contact Mr Schmidt by email: aschm55@eq.edu.au

Aspley Art Affair

The Aspley Art Affair will be held on Friday 20th October 2017 from 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm at the school hall. Come along with your child and enjoy the students art displays and have the opportunity to share your child’s learning. Student are very excited, as they have worked hard to develop their understanding about the cross-curricula theme of sustainability.

All students have responded to their learning by creating amazing art work. Students have worked with professional Brisbane Artists and used unique mediums to create an individual and collaborative work. Fifteen beautiful collaborative art works will be auctioned at the Aspley Art Affair at 7.30 pm. Money raised from this event will support a school community art project within the school in 2018. Mark this very special event on your family calendar!

A letter will go home next week requesting a contribution for the art workshops that children have enjoyed over recent weeks. Students will receive their art work to take home or place in their student portfolio in the week after the Art Show.

I would like to acknowledge the artists who have worked with the children including: Artist Wendy, Alicia Hollier, Concita Hurst, Deb Nicholls, Cielle Van Vuuren and Suzanne Schroeder.

If you would like to volunteer to assist to set up the art display, please meet in the hall on Wednesday 18th of October at 11.00 am onwards. Your efforts to assist with displaying children’s art would be greatly appreciated!

Student Free Day

A reminder to parents/carers that Monday 16th of October 2017 is a Student Free day and students do not attend school on this day. Teachers participate in professional development on this day.

Woolworths Earn and Learn

Thank you to the families who collected the Woolworths Earn and Learn Stickers for our school. Aspley State School collected 33 480 stickers on 558 sheets! The credit value of these stickers will be used to purchase mathematics equipment for the children at Aspley State School.

Enrolments for 2018

To assist with the forward planning of class structures for 2018 we would appreciate if parents/ carers could notify the school if you are moving or your child is departing from Aspley State School in 2018. Please advise our administration team by contacting admin@aspleyss.eq.edu.au or Ph 38639111.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL’S NEWS

RACQ Streets Ahead program

As advised in the last Newsletter of Term 3, the RACQ Streets Ahead program was conducted at Aspley State School this week.

Each student from Prep – Year 6 participated in a 45 minute learning experience with the staff from RACQ.

A snapshot of the students’ learning from this week’s sessions can be found below:

Level 1 (Prep & Year 1)

  • Safe Pedestrian – Teaching children the ‘Stop, Look, Listen, Think’ strategy when crossing the road.
  • Safe Playing – Educating children on choosing safe places to play that are not near the road or driveway.
  • Safe Passenger – Children learn to enter and exit the car using the ‘Safety Door’ (back passenger door) and to ‘Slip, Clip, Clap’ showing the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

Level 2 (Year 2)

  • Safe Pedestrian – Students revise the strategy of ‘Stop, Look, Listen, Think’ when crossing the road and choosing a safe place to cross.
  • Safe Cyclist – Children learn the importance of wearing a bicycle helmet and how to wear it correctly using the ‘Two Finger Rule’.
  • Safe Passenger – Students recognise what driver distraction is and learn strategies to become a safer passenger in the car.

Level 3 (Year 3 & 4)

  • Bike Safety – Students are shown demonstrations of the consequences of not wearing a helmet. Through demonstrations, students learn that helmets absorb energy and protect their heads, and other safety gear they need to wear.
  • Bike Maintenance – An engaging game educates students on how to maintain their bikes and safety features required on every bicycle.
  • Bike Rules – Students learn the importance of following rules when riding a bike using the ‘Five Finger Rules’.

Level 4 (Year 5 & 6)

  • Bike Safety - Students are shown demonstrations of the consequences of not wearing a helmet. Through demonstrations, students learn that helmets absorb energy and protect their heads.
  • Seat Belt Safety – Students are shown three television advertisements and then asked to choose which one would convince them to wear a seat belt and why.
  • Distractions – Students learn how easily a mobile phone can be a distraction for a driver and explore ways to reduce the risk of driver distraction. Students also identify other potential risk taking behaviours and the consequences associated with taking these risks. They discuss how they can alter their own actions to ensure they are safer on and around the road.

The highlight of the week’s activity was the Life Flight Chopper landing on the Aspley State School Oval this morning. Thank you to staff, students and parents for giving the chopper a warm Aspley welcome this morning.

The RACQ Streets Ahead program is proudly linked to our involvement with the Brisbane City Council’s Active School Travel initiative, and supports our ongoing work to better inform our community of safe transit to and from school every day.

Students in class 1LM, 4P and 4DA were asked by the Brisbane City Council to be photographed participating in the RACQ Streets Ahead program for future promotional use by both Council and RACQ. Thank you to those parents/ guardians who enabled this to occur.

Character descriptions

Poppy often dreamed about what her first flight would be like. She’d imagined it was like being a bird; free and weightlessly drifting through the clouds.

Poppy has a bomber hat and some goggles over it. She wears a red jacket with red jeans. She has curly hair like spaghetti. She has brown eyes which looks beautiful.

She is a generous, forgiving person because she says kind words to everybody. Poppy is a cheerful person when she is gliding through the air like a rapid lightning bolt. She makes her dog laugh so the dog doesn’t get afraid from up up in the wonderful blue sky.

When Poppy is going to sleep in the night she studies a lot about planes. As a job Poppy makes heaps of movies about planes. Every plane that she looks at she knows how long the wingspan will be of a plane. When she has time with her family they go to an airplane museum. Poppy also knows how humungous a plane will be. She always bolts in the playground at school.

She thinks that the view in the sky is wonderful because looking down it looks beautiful. Poppy is anxious about falling out of the plane because it was her first time gliding through the air. Poppy wanders if she will get in trouble by her parents because she didn’t ask her parents if she could go. Poppy is determined to get her own plane for herself. I think that Poppy will be nervous because she thinks that she is lost in the sky.

By Beau Curley 2S

Poppy often dreamed about what her first flight would be like. She’d imagined it was like being a bird; free and weightlessly drifting through the clouds.

Her hair is like chestnuts in the sun. She had a coast red as strawberries. Her shoes are blacker than coal. In a green plane, young, excited Poppy gasped quietly.

Poppy was a shy little girl. She is independent and confident and poppy is determined and thoughtful. Cautious in the plane, childish, cheerful Poppy smiles joyfully.

Poppy is a curious girl, who likes to explore broken down planes. In a green plane, joyful, independent Poppy observes silently. Poppy is obsessed with planes. She likes googling planes and going to plane museums.

Poppy is anxious about falling out of the plane. Over the ocean, airsick, lost Poppy dreams silently. Poppy is fearful about the plane breaking. Poppy is afraid as mouse about falling out of the plane. Poppy is happy when she does an explanation on planes.

By Rhylan 2D

Poppy often dreamed about what her first flight would be like. She’d imagined it was like being a bird; free and weightlessly drifting through the clouds.

Poppy has light brown, curly hair and a pair of big blue eyes as blue as the sky on a summers day. Her t-shirt is a hot pink that almost glows because its so bright. Last of all she wears a bomber hat and goggles.

Poppy is an independent girl with a huge imagination. She is thoughtless because she did not think about what her parents would think of her running away from home. Poppy is very confident about running away from home. Ever since she was born Poppy was determined to see what it was like flying in a plane.

Poppy is obsessed with planes. She sometimes imagines herself as a plane running along the runway then taking off in the air. Sometimes Poppy enjoys spreading her arms out wide in the playground and pretends to be an airplane. Every day she gets on to google and looks up PLANES TO STUDY and finds hundreds of bits of information about planes. She sometimes studies other things like helicopters and hot air balloons.

Poppy is thrilled about flying but on the other hand she is anxious about falling out of the plane. The young girl thought she could hear the engines clanging and spluttering as she flew over the ocean. She was completely thrilled with the view but when she looked down she was TERRIFIED!

SENIOR WRITERS’ EXCURSION

Senior Writers Club Excursion 2017

Robots, Dragons and Inspiring people. This is what members of the Aspley School Senior writers group experienced week 9 last term. At the Chermside Library we met a robot named Sonic and watched him dance, tell a story, sit and stand and discuss his favourite colours. Then we went to some really cool people, members of the Chermside Library writers group. The writers group meet on the last Thursday of every month and consist of passionate authors. They have homework that they have posted on the blog, which consists of two stories or poem topics and the option to continue with a segment of a long term writing project. The group recently published their first book, Whimsical Wanderings, a book full of poems, short stories and snippets of their longer books. It is an anthology of inspiring people sharing creative works with like-minded people. We wrote of missing dragons in an impromptu writing activity and shared our take on the topic. We had so much fun listening to these amazing authors speak. I have a massive Thank you to Miss Oliver for organising it and to the Chermside Library for welcoming us. I hope others will have this amazing experience in the future.

We have a copy of Whimsical Wanderings in our school library if anyone would like to borrow it.

The Best Excursion Ever!

When I heard about the excursion, I was going crazy! So when we were waiting for Miss Oliver, Grace’s mum read us the Christmas Wombat (book).

It was so funny. When we got to the young writer’s festival, first we saw Wendy Orr. My favourite part about Wendy Orr is that when she was answering the questions from the children. A boy from different school had a funny question. He asked Wendy Orr “Are you tired of answering random questions?” Everyone started laughing when they heard that question.

Next we met Jackie French, author of series of ‘Diary of a wombat’ and many more. She talked about historical stuff and now I know she is a very historical person.

Next we met Anna Fienberg, author of Tashi books. She talked about herself and her dog. She also talked about imagination and creation which I liked most and was very interesting.

It was end of the excursion and we went back to school in a bus. I am sad that the excursion is over but I really enjoyed this trip and meeting real life author’s in person.

Thank you for reading,

Shiona from 3N, Aspley State School

Junior Writer’s Excursion

The junior writer’s excursion was a jam-packed day full of fun! We got to meet 3 major Australian authors, Wendy Orr, Jackie French and Anna Fienberg. Firstly, we met Wendy Orr. She told us she loves getting inspiration by just dreaming. She loves being an author. She has made over 50 books, including Nim’s Island, Dragonfly Song, & plenty more. I love Wendy Orr!

YEAR 5 ART

Last term, the Year 5 students have completed some amazing Artworks in our Rotational Activities. The children have explored watercolour techniques as well as Paper Tearing Art to create these beautiful pieces of art. And to think they only attend Art ONCE a week. I like to think that the Year 5 children have really benefitted from this exposure to varying styles and techniques. Giving them the opportunity to excel in a subject that can be put aside or neglected has really produced fantastic results.

I have included a sample of these for your viewing pleasure.

Year 3 Design Technology

Last term Year 3 students studied Design and Technology. Students learnt about the impact of waste on our world and gained an understanding of sustainability. For this unit of work, students were required to repurpose a waste product. They engaged in a rigorous process that included designing, building and evaluating. Some of the designs included stationary and remote control holders, bird feeders and toy organisers. Year 3 teachers and students would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for their support during this process

Eagles Cup

“Aspley Sparrows Soccer Teams blew their opponents away to win the Eagles Cup!!”

A boys and girls team representing the Sparrows Soccer Program took on extraordinary wind conditions and formidable competition at the Eagles Cup inter-school tournament hosted by Aspley State High School. This event was the biggest Eagles Cup soccer challenge that Aspley State School has ever been involved in. With resolute determination and the ‘spirit’ of the Sparrows, both teams blew the feathers off their opposition and were declared winners of the coveted Eagles Cup trophy. Congratulations to the players who have made the Sparrows Soccer Program and Aspley State School very proud!!”

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope legacy lives on at Aspley Primary School

Aspley Primary School Principal, Leann Griffith-Baker gives special thanks to Mrs Elaine Dooley for her eleven years as the school’s coordinator for the Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart program.

Mrs Dooley was responsible for introducing the skipping rope fundraiser to Aspley State School in 2006 as an initiative to promote physical activity and raise funds for heart disease research.

“After receiving positive feedback from staff and students in our first year of participation, we decided to make Jump Rope an annual event to look forward to” said Ms Dooley.

“Seeing the program through the past eleven years has brought much fun and fundraising for students with more than $30,000 raised collectively” she said.

This year was no exception with Jump Rope’s Field Officer Alicia Barry confirming a total of $6,342 raised with recent completion of the program.

Aspley State School is just one of 1,300 schools that continues to participate annually in the popular fundraising program.

Although the skipping days have come to an end for Elaine, she leaves the reins in good hands with the next generation of Aspley skippers upholding her legacy.

TUCKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT

Some of you may have noticed some changes in the Tuckshop and Uniform Shop staffing and opening hours since the beginning of this term. After an independent review of operations that was completed towards the end of Term 3, these changes were necessary to ensure the Tuckshop could continue to service the school community in an appropriate way and keep the services financially viable. As per the P&C Qld’s guidelines, a Tuckshop “whilst it is a service provided to families and community members, it must break even, or run at a profit”.

The new Tuckshop hours, effective immediately, are Tuesday to Friday, from 8.30am to 1.45pm. The reduced menu options currently available is a short-term measure, as it needs to be manageable by the very small crew of helpers (some days of which there are none). In addition, a few menu items needed to be removed as they did not reflect the Smart Choices guidelines mandated by the Queensland Government.

If you would like to help, please email TuckshopAspleySS@gmail.com to offer a day and time - a 30 minute to 1-hour shift from 8.30am to 10.30am Tuesday to Friday would be most appreciated.

We thank Mrs Whitehead and our Tuckshop volunteers for your ongoing help and we hope you will continue to support the school. For everyone else, please consider how you might be able to help, even if only one morning a month.

There will be a debrief regarding the changes to operations at the P&C meeting on 17 October and we welcome anyone to come along to be involved in the discussion.

Should you have any feedback or questions – you can contact the P&C executive via the school, email PandC@aspleyss.eq.edu.au or contact Brenden (P&C President) on 0412 405 462, or via the Facebook page (AspleySSPandC).

UNIFORM SHOP

The Uniform Shop will be open Monday (with more days/hours during the busy periods). Flexsichools continues to be the most effective way to order Uniforms. Uniform orders can be delivered to your student’s classroom.

If you would prefer to volunteer in the Uniform Shop 1 or 2 mornings per week, we would love to hear from you.

MOVIE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS – 6th October, from 5.30pm – POSTPONED

  • Unfortunately, due to the storm warning for Friday night, the Events team made the very difficult decision to postpone this event. You would understand that there is significant preparation in organizing an outdoor event of this scale, and a decision needed to be made sooner rather than later.
  • The team would like to thank NO DIRT Just Dance, KineticKids and Kids’ Community Collect; as well as TC Coffee, Dolce Ice Creamery and Twilight Flicks for supporting this event. Thank you also to MSP Photography and Bank of Queensland Aspley for their GOLD sponsorship of this event.
  • We hope that you will support this event and volunteer early, once a new date is advised.

ASPLEY SWIMMING CLUB:

  • NOTICE: First meet is at 2.00pm Sunday October 8th , then each Friday night from 6.30pm.

CALL OUT FOR DONATIONS

  • NEW tea-towels – the Tuckshop needs clean NEW tea-towels. If you have excess not being used, please consider donating these to the Tuckshop.
  • You can drop them off at the Uniform Shop on Monday mornings, or at the Tuckshop Tuesday to Friday mornings, or anytime at the school office.

Uniform Shop:

  • Donate 2-3 child mannequins or torsos to display our uniforms
  • Donate full length curtains to create 2 change rooms

SPARROWS SOCCER PROGRAM NEWS

Welcome back to Term 4

With the success of the ‘Eagles Cup’ triumph completing term 3 the Sparrows are back in full flight for term 4 and excited to welcome Grade 3 students to the program:

Grade 3&4 training Tuesdays 7.30am
Grade 5&6 Thursdays 7.30am

With wind beneath their wings the Sparrows Swoop to win the Eagles Cup!

  • Aspley Boys score a clean sweep of the competition winning all their games!!
  • Aspley Girls draw one game and win all their other games!!

A boys and girls team were selected to represent the Aspley State School Sparrows program at the biggest Eagles Cup challenge that the school has ever been involved in!! The competition was approached with much anticipation with a whirlwind of excitement in the air whipped up by the gale force wind that added to the days challenge!! However, the extraordinary strong wind conditions failed to blow the Sparrows off their game as both the boys and girls teams literally blew their opponents away to claim the coveted Eagles Cup winners trophy for Aspley State School.

Eagles are known to fly high above all birds, fearless, with vision and tenacity. It was these same qualities delivered by the Sparrows throughout the competition which placed them as title holders of the Eagles Cup.

It was a great day and huge congratulations go to both teams for truly giving the challenge everything they had and proving well deserved winners of the tournament. All involved were so proud of the spirit and effort displayed by the players as reflected by Chief Sparrow, Mr Farrow; ‘The kids were fabulous! They were all enthusiastic, energetic and very committed! They did themselves, Aspley State School, The Sparrows and ‘us’ VERY proud!!”

Many thanks also go to all who make participation in this event possible from staff to coaches, to behind the scenes volunteers and the supporters cheer-squad. It was fabulous to see both boys and girls teams also cheering for one another when they had the opportunity to watch each others games.

A special ‘guest’ sparrow joins the supporters nest!!

A big shout-out to Maia and Heidi who joined the supporters nest!! Maia was one of the very first year 4 girls to join the Sparrows back in 2014 and her mum Heidi, one of the first parent coach volunteers on the program. In an email to Mr Farrow, Maia reflected the commitment and community inspired by the Sparrows program ‘ it was good to see the girls play and to see how much they improved, they were amazing! … Thank you for all you’ve done. It was great to see all the Sparrows since I've missed it so much’

Competition Highlights:

Aspley Boys undefeated champions!!

An awesome result for the boys team and a credit to Senior Boys Coach, Mrs Leigh-Ann Rohde who said ‘what transpired was incredible to be involved in and to watch … pumped with enthusiasm to play some awesome soccer this team didn't disappoint despite the hurricane like winds blowing tents, flags, goals and even prams away’.

What a team effort!! Despite only training together once a week this team excelled in their skills; passing and dribbling with precision and control, securing a formidable defensive back line, strong goal-keeping and taking every opportunity to score a goal.

Led by Jahrel as Captain, each player was crucial to the result. Jahrel, Zayne, Tom, Charlie & Aden (Deputy Captain) proved skillful in reading the game, they were 'everywhere' and always 'at the right time'. Tom was a game maker, assertive, confident and determined and Zayne demonstrated consistent skill in winning the ball in defence and transferring control and ‘ownership’ to the Sparrows mids and forwards. Braith and Jamaji took on pivotal ‘one-on-one’ competitions that could have decided the game, Xavier set the tone for the competition and drilled a goal in the first minute of the first game and Willem scored in the last minute of game 3, sliding a goal in just before the horn blew!! William put his hand up to be in goal and did a fantastic job defending the goal and not letting any goals in even with the wind against him!!

Having won all 4 of their games, the Aspley Boys took on the ‘Finals’; tiredness was setting in but the boys proved they were not too tired to win!! They kept their form despite a couple of jaw-dropping moments that had spectators holding their breath but the boys kept up with play and defended their goal up to the last electrifying minute when the final horn blew and the Aspley Boys were declared winners of the Eagles Cup.

Finals: Aspley Boys defeated Eaton’s Hill Boys 3-0

Clearly elated coach Mrs Leigh-ann Rohde said:

“What an awesome, heart stopping day. Aden got player of the day from Aspley State High School referees, which was lovely to see… Jahrel proved a great leader as captain and included everyone equally. Great choice for the boys to elect Jahrel… I couldn't pick a top choice because each member played with heart and soul and all of them were equally brilliant in being team players. Thank you boys, you are All Stars in my book.”

In addition Mrs Leigh-ann Rohde offered a ‘thanks to all the parents for coming down to watch, a big thanks to Trevor, (Charlie's dad) for assisting me, to Alison, Jahrel’s mum, and Katrina, Aden’s mum, for taking photos and also Heidi and Mia for joining us and supporting Aspley Sparrows’.

Aspley Girls ‘Never Gave Up’ and top a draw score with wins!!

An exceptional performance saw the Aspley Girls stand shoulder to shoulder with the

Aspley Boys to also claim the Eagles Cup victory trophy.

‘They were very well drilled and disciplined in their positions, roles & responsibilities!! I am very proud!’ commented Mr Farrow who supported the Girls team on behalf of Senior Girls coach Andrew Levie who was unable to attend the event.

Team Captain for the girls, Georgina excelled in her role and combined with India as Deputy Captain these girls played true to form and led by perfect example both strong, confident, assertive and single-minded; ‘Georgina made the perfect girls Captain…and I seriously lost count of how many goals India kicked!! She was awesome!’ (Mr Farrow)

In defence, Sierra ran non-stop. Eaton's Hill relied heavily on two skillful players who were constantly slipping behind the Sparrows midfielders and challenging the Sparrows defence who were alarmingly caught out by these two players' speed and assertion on the ball. ‘Left unchecked’ said Mr Farrow, ‘both could have easily upset our chances to play and win (we replayed the same team in the finals!) Sierra personally ran down, challenged and obstructed their attacks! She easily saved at least 4 very serious attempts at our goals! Sierra was awarded 'Player of the Match' for her efforts!’

Resolute and determined and with a player down due to ill-health (Saskia you were missed!), the Aspley Girls pulled out all the stops!! Luciella came back from illness, not normally a striker, this courageous player kicked 'the' heart-stopping penalty goal on the siren to change our 1-0 loss to Eaton's Hill to a 1-1 draw!!! Anaiya strong in her conviction to win the ball showed confidence when in possession of it. Sanuli ran hard and non-stop, Keely made some vital interventions that made a HUGE impact on the game and Faye and Mae had to really assert themselves in many one-on-one competitions for the ball, very challenging but they both won through when it really counted.

Finals: Aspley Girls defeated Eaton’s Hill Girls 4-2

In summing up the Sparrows achievements Mr Farrow commented: ‘All the players were totally awesome!! Team-orientated! Spirited! Encouraging! Assertive! Confident! Dedicated and determined!’
