Celebrating 135 Years of Aspley State School

On Wednesday, 6 August 2025, Aspley State School proudly celebrates 135 years of learning, community and tradition. As we reflect on our school’s rich history, we also look forward to the future, embracing new opportunities while honouring our past.

In our previous newsletter located here , we detailed one of the exciting initiatives leading up to this milestone. We encourage families to participate in our 135th Anniversary Design Competition, showcasing creativity and spirit as we commemorate this special occasion.

School and Classroom Celebrations

Digital Time Capsule:

On the school’s birthday, classroom teachers will capture five photos of their class, documenting lessons and activities happening in 2025. These images will be compiled into a digital presentation and a framed heritage piece, preserving this moment for generations to come. The images will not be shared online but will be displayed in school administration and assemblies, ensuring a meaningful school-focused tribute.

House Banner Preservation:

All students will have the opportunity to sign the Kennedy, Mitchell, and Oxley house banners, marking their place in history on the 135th birthday. These banners will then be framed and displayed in the hall as a lasting tribute, while new sporting banners are introduced to carry forward our school’s legacy into the next 135 years.

Community Celebrations

135 Years Community Videos:

As a symbolic tribute, we will work with our students and families to form the number “135” on the oval, capturing the moment from above as the community surrounds the students in a powerful visual display of unity and history. Additionally, we will explore family connections that tie our current school community to Aspley’s rich past.

Stay tuned for more details as we continue celebrating 135 years of excellence, community and learning together!
