MUSICA VIVA IN SCHOOLS “WYNISS” ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE

On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, all students in Prep to Year 6 will have the opportunity to participate in Musica Viva Australias’ In Schools ‘Wyniss’ ensemble performance to be held at Aspley State School.  All students will receive a parent/carer information letter outlining the exciting details of this special performance event.  Families are asked to complete the incursion consent form and return to the school administration office with the required payment no later than Wednesday 27 August 2025.   

Musica Viva Australia “In Schools” program provides culturally and musical diverse shows with some of Australia’s best musicians, presenting live in-school performances to schools nationally. Musica Viva Australia is proud to be one of the country’s largest and most trusted providers of music education, dedicated to fostering creative learning and appreciation for music among students and teachers alike, with engaging music curriculum-aligned programs designed to engage, excite, educate and inspire.

About the performing ensemble – Wyniss is a Torres Strait song and dance performance allowing students to understand how culture and history are passed on through song, dance, and childhood games. While childhood games may just seem like pure fun, they are also an important record of our history. From spinning tops to string figures, this wildly entertaining and colourfully costumed ensemble show how culture and history are passed on through singing, dancing and games. By comparing their own childhood games to those from the Torres Strait, students come to understand the importance of traditions, and to be thankful to those who teach them. Musica Viva In Schools ‘Wyniss’ performance is presented by Musica Viva Australia In Schools in conjunction with NAISDA Dance College.

2025 SINGFEST WORKSHOP – SENIOR CHOIR

Thank you Senior Choral families for returning the required documentation/payment for the upcoming Education Queensland SingFest Workshop to be held on Thursday 28August at Wavell State High School (Performing Arts Building), Telopia Avenue, Wavell Heights.

Further details regarding this upcoming workshop will be placed in the school newsletter and emailed to participating families closer to the excursion event.  At this time, please refer to the parent/carer letter for further information.  We are looking forward to a marvellous choral experience, guided by the amazing conductor Kylie Los, who will inspire the children through-out the workshop day to achieve their best at choral singing.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

NORTHSIDE BEGINNER BAND BLITZ & NORTHSIDE JUNIOR STRING WORKSHOP

On Tuesday 2 September, Beginner Woodwind/Brass/Percussion students will be attending the Northside Beginner Band Blitz Workshop to be held at Aspley State School as part of our Woodwind/Brass/Percussion Instrumental Music Program. 

On Wednesday 3 September to Thursday 4 September, 2025 selected second year string students will be participating in the Northside Junior Strings Workshop to be held at Bracken Ridge State School, (1 Binburra Street, Bracken Ridge QLD 4017) as part of our Strings Instrumental Music Program. 

If you wish for your child/ren to participate in the Northside Beginner Band Blitz Workshop/ Northside Junior Strings Workshop, please ensure to complete the excursion consent form and return to the school administration office no later than Monday, 11 August 2025 and ensure to register for this activity using the online iVvy Registration and Payment link provided within the parent/carer excursion consent forms and information letter.  Online registrations will close at 10am, Monday 11 August 2025 (NOTE – not close of business on that day).  No extension to this close-off date will be possible – requests for late registrations will be refused. 

Please ensure to return excursion consent forms to the school administration office no later than Monday 11 August 2025.
